Intersex Justice Can’t Wait!
Intersex Kenyans continue to face violence, exclusion, and erasure every single day. Sydney and Frankie’s stories of being denied education and forced into harmful surgeries are not isolated. They are the living proof of what’s at stake if Kenya fails to act on the Intersex Task Force Report. This is not just about policy. It’s about justice. We call on the government to move from words to action:
Legally recognize intersex individuals
Ban medically unnecessary surgeries on children
Guarantee access to affirming health care
Ensure equal education opportunities
Uphold dignity and human rights for all
The report is only a starting point. Stand with Sydney, Frankie, and the intersex community in demanding urgent, tangible change.

Intersex Child Safeguarded Through Joint Action
Lack of education of parents and guardians remains one of the key drivers behind the denial of rights for intersex children. Many face stigma, discrimination, and are denied access to essential services like healthcare and education.
Recently, Jinsiangu partnered with the Children’s Services in Malaba, Busia County help rescue one such child, but this is just one step. Much more is needed to ensure the rights of intersex children are fully protected. This includes pushing for policy changes and raising public awareness about the rights and dignity of intersex children.
Transgender and Gender Diverse Persons and the rise of hate in Kenya in the wake of anti-gender and anti-rights rhetoric
This powerful article by Toni King’ori, Executive Director of Jinsiangu, sheds light on the lived realities of transgender persons in Kenya—from early experiences of gender dysphoria to the legal, social, and systemic barriers they face today.
It highlights the lack of gender recognition, rising transphobic violence, and the hypocrisy of foreign-influenced anti-rights rhetoric. Toni also reflects on the recent Supreme Court ruling on freedom of association, its backlash, and the role of faith leaders and politicians in fueling hate. The article ends with a message of hope, gratitude to trans pioneers, and a call for empathy, justice, and unity.
