Meet Our Team
Toni King'ori - Executive Director
Toni is the head of Jinsiangu, overseeing its daily operations, strategy implementation, resource mobilization, and department coordination. With over 15 years in social justice advocacy, building resilient movements and programme research, design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, she brings a wealth of experience to her role at Jinsiangu and to the larger I.T.GNC Movement in Kenya and across the Continent.
Toni has been at the vanguard of the burgeoning Intersex and Transgender (and later Gender Non-Conforming/Non-Binary) movement in Kenya. She was a Co-Founder of the premier Trans and Intersex - specific organization in Kenya, i.e. the Transgender Education and Advocacy (T.E.A.) and has been integral in aiding this movement and organizing to grow through various interventions such as lending varied support to nascent organizations and activists; knowledge building and sharing; mentoring and outreach.Toni employs systems thinking in her approach to problem solving as she believes in the interconnectedness of actions, movements, causes and desired outcomes of seemingly disparate things/phenomena. As a Strategic Management and Strategic Leadership practitioner, this approach, amongst other things, has enhanced her decision-making capability as well as helped Jinsiangu increase its adaptability and resilience as an organization and thought leader. She serves on a number of Non-Profit Boards. Toni also serves as the Co-Chair of the National Transgender Advocacy Network of Kenya (N.T.A.N), dedicating her career to advancing gender minority rights as well as the rights of other vulnerable and marginalized members and groups in our society.
