Bodies Unbound Exhibit
Jinsiangu creates and supports opportunities for ITGNC people to thrive as artists and the creative exploration of ITGNC identity.
In 2015, Jinsiangu created its first art project, “Bodies Unbound,” hosted at the British Institute in Eastern Africa. The exhibit was the first ever Kenyan art exhibition with a focus on gender minority issues and celebrating ITGNC bodies and experiences.
Bodies Unbound explored ways of life and identities beyond conventional gender classifications. Highlighting the creativity and determination of ITGNC people, as well as the difficult and sometimes questionable compromises ITGNC people are sometimes forced to make to survive.
