Two Years Without Thiaya- Honoring a Legacy of Courage, Care & Community
Today marks two years since Thiaya left us, yet his presence still lingers in our lives, our hearts, and the work we continue to do.
Thiaya wasn’t just part of the community, he carried many of us through it. A mentor. A guide. A big brother. A father figure. For so many, Thiaya was the first person who made them feel truly seen and safe.
He looked out for the whole intersex, transgender, and gender nonconforming (ITGNC) community. Whether you were a young trans man finding your way, a trans woman seeking someone to walk beside you, or someone navigating your own gender journey, he showed up for you.
Thiaya believed in care that was real and deep. He championed mental health, constantly reminding us that our healing matters. He created space for us to speak, to rest, to cry, and simply to be, without shame.
Thiaya also believed in discipline and responsibility. He knew that caring for ourselves and our community starts with being intentional. He pushed us, not with pressure, but with love, to grow, to show up, and to do better.
Many of us wouldn’t be where we are today without him. He paved the way, stood in the gap, and helped us find solid ground.
Though he’s no longer with us, his lessons and his love continue to guide us.
Rest in power, Thiaya.
You are deeply missed.
You are eternally remembered.
You live on in every trans person you touched.
