International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia 2022

IDAHOBIT 2022 marks marks an important season for gender and sexual minorities in Kenya. It is sad that during such a time, we reflect back on recent happenings and others over the year which have been rife with death and sorrow over murders of people within our own community.

It’s important to remember why exactly these murders happen. Most are fueled by transphobia, homophobia and outright hatred towards anyone that presents and identifies differently. We devote time, resources and ourselves towards changing these vile attitudes towards our communities.

Even when it feels less important to speak out against these vile attitudes, it makes all the difference to stand up against them before they foster and to support initiatives, voices and messages that address contributing factors to such hatred and violence to the LGBTQ community.
